The following changes / modifications have been made for the 2013-2014 season. For a complete listing of all rules visit the
Racing Rules page
1. Age Group Change proposal – the +60 age group has been split and is now 60 to 69 and 70+. Hence the Age & Gender Classes sentence in Part II (League Structure), Racer Classes will now read:
Age and Gender Classes: League classes shall consist of male and female fixed age categories (“classes”) to be fixed: 16-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70+. (see Section III. A: Individual Scoring”).
2. Telemark Turn Proposal – additional rule added to define a telemark turn.
As this is new language, it would be inserted into the Racing Rules, as a new section “II E – Telemark Format” (just after “II D – Racing Format”)
E. Telemark Format
CISC Telemark Turn Definitions:
1) The inside ski is trailing the lead ski to the extent that the tip of the trailing boot is at least one “boot length” behind the heel of the lead boot, measured in the direction of the ski. The heel of the trailing foot is visibly off the ski and the trailing knee is visibly dropped.
2) Once the trailing foot starts to more forward and becomes less than one boot length behind the lead boot, it must move continuously through into a position where it is at least one boot length in front of the other foot.
CISC Telemark Turn Rules:
Telemark racers may skate and/or pole past the first two gates in the race without a proper telemark turn as defined above. Subsequent turns must be executed as stated above with the exception of the final gate where the racer may tuck around the final gate and through the finish.
